As we begin the new millennium, we can reflect on some of our successes during the year 2000. Most significant among these was the creation of the Rochester Ukrainian Group as a new community service organization dedicated to advancing the welfare of the Rochester Ukrainian-American Community. To this cause we strive to develop and support cultural activities within the Ukrainian-American Community in greater Rochester, to eliminate discrimination and prejudice aimed at Ukrainian-Americans, and to connect with democratic Ukraine whenever our mutual goals permit.

A second achievement, no less significant, was the tax-free status our organization received from the government. Now all of your dues and donations to RUG can be deducted from your state and federal income taxes.

Our third initiative was to join with the United Committee of Rochester to sponsor a celebration of 100 Years of Ukrainian Settlement in Rochester, New York. Here we have taken a leadership role and are now planning a yearlong celebration. Planned activities include concerts, lectures, banquet, dance and choir performances and informational spots on public television

In order for us to continue our activities and expand our programs, we invite you to become a member of or renew your membership in RUG for the year 2001. We are beginning to prepare a RUG Membership Directory --Year 2001 and want to include your name in it.

Sincerely,

Nataliya Shulga
President
